181 PA Schools Without GRE for 2023

For this blog post, I want to start out by sharing some good news. When I was making the updated list of PA schools without GRE, I noticed that many of the schools are moving away from this standardized test, which is great for applicants who are not planning to take the GRE.

However, we should also keep in mind that a few of the schools are starting to require either PA-CAT or CASPer, although the number of schools with these new requirements isn’t that overwhelming.

And as stated before, the number of schools requiring the GRE has been on a steady decline, which is great. In 2015, over 70% of PA schools required you to take the GRE test, compared to a little bit over 50% today.

However, it is not to say that taking the GRE doesn’t have its own benefits. If you are a low GPA applicant like I was, taking the GRE may be a good option. Why? This is because GRE can open a lot of applications and can help increase your chances of getting into a PA school.

Some things to know when using this list:

The schools are organized by the state that they are located in for easier reference.
Some schools require either GRE or PA-CAT, and this requirement is noted in the table below.
Accreditation of each school has been added to the table to help you pick schools.

For accreditation, keep in mind that established programs will have the ‘Continued’ status, and newer programs will have the ‘Provisional’ status. Some schools may have the ‘Probation’ status, which is just indicating that they are not currently meeting the standards set by the ARC-PA. Learn more about accreditation here.
